25 years of EuroLam

With the entry of EuroLam GmbH in the commercial register in January 1997, Ernst Hommer had a specific goal in mind: to improve the window systems available on the market in order to exchange all the air in the room in the shortest possible time without cooling the room down too much and at the same time to ensure natural fresh air!

This year, EuroLam GmbH is celebrating its 25th company anniversary and can proudly say that to this day the existing systems are constantly being further developed through in-house development work and are used worldwide in object solutions according to customer requirements, always with the goal: No compromises in supply with natural fresh air.

Even if the framework conditions were not always easy, EuroLam GmbH has always done justice to its entrepreneurial actions and to this day enjoys a high level of trust among its customers.

how it all started

In 1992, there were no variable louvre windows on the national or international market that could fulfill the customer's wishes in terms of building physics and aesthetics. The product or products that were on the market at the time did not have the technical requirements for use in modern, innovative facades. There were no thermally separated systems, the sizes were limited, the use of insulating glass was limited and there were no justifiable thermal insulation properties.

Mr. Hommer's vision was to combine all of these qualities. Driven by the constantly changing requirements in terms of thermal insulation, sound insulation and variability of the systems, Mr. Hommer began developing innovative and future-oriented systems in 1996. The first major order was the train station in Berlin Spandau, which was realized with four employees in Wiegendorf.

Which stumbling blocks Ernst Hommer had to step over during the foundation
The first stumbling block was Mr. Hommer himself! During the development, he had oriented himself too closely to the products of the competition, although he had very clear ideas about the design. After 5 ½ months he "put the entire development on the shelf" and started from scratch according to his own ideas. That was the hour of birth of the first own system - TGL BT 50. Then there were the classic truckloads of stumbling blocks that make life difficult for a company founder: authorities, banks, missing company location.

25 years of EuroLam - the success story

The 25-year success story of EuroLam began with the birth of the first louvre window. Constant new developments and orders, both national and international, led to investments in the Wiegendorf site, so that in 1999 the first company-owned production hall was built. This made it possible to invest in new manufacturing processes, increase production capacity and process larger orders, strengthen competitiveness and, most importantly, create jobs. A year later the construction of the second production hall followed.

Not only the growth of the location and the steadily increasing number of employees showed that the development is promising, but also the multiple awards in the last 25 years with innovation and design prizes. Every award for the company EuroLam is praise and challenge at the same time. When she was appointed managing director in 2006, Ms. Heidrun Hommer, together with Mr. Hommer as a shareholder, took on the task of further developing the company and bringing it forward.

The greatest challenge for EuroLam from the beginning was and is, in addition to being competitive on the market, employing qualified employees, which has been very successful so far. Over 20% of the nearly 50 EuroLam employees have an engineering background.

With more than eight successfully completed research projects, in close cooperation with the Institute for Building Construction at the Technical University of Dresden and several technical colleges, EuroLam can precisely test and meet the market requirements of tomorrow.

Today and in the future - EuroLam for life!

Under the joint management of Heidrun Hommer and since August 2020 also Henning Röper, the company supplies louvre windows all over the world - from America to Europe, Africa and Australia to Iceland, Japan and New Zealand.

The name EuroLam is always mentioned when it comes to innovative, technically mature and aesthetically sophisticated solutions. Energy transition, climate fluctuations, urbanization, increasing resource consumption and demographic change are the challenges of the 21st century that will shape the future. EuroLam will help shape this future change, because sustainable action is part of the EuroLam corporate principles. As a company, EuroLam bears social and ecological responsibility. EuroLam produces exclusively in Germany - in unity of economy, ecology and social commitment.
